Anti-Trump protesters got into the Trump rally in Fountain Hills, Arizona.  What happened next was just what the protesters predicted– and the reason they were protesting.  It’s easy for a group of people with a cultural history of political power and a lack of education to assume that the way things are is the way things are supposed to be.  Then when people from outside their group assert their equality they seem like a threat to the dominant group.  Then the people from the dominant group act like they’re disgusted with the other people, treat them like they should know better than to try to change anything, dehumanize them, and treat them like they just aren’t smart enough to agree with the dominant group about how the world is supposed to be.  From villainizing and dehumanizing people it’s a short step to thinking it’s a good idea to threaten them physically and even attack them physically, all of which happened that day.
